TOPHANE

It is a historical and touristic destination situated in the very center of the city. One of the elements that make it special is the historical clock tower. It is one of the places where you can have a panoramic view over Bursa. The bombs during the month of Ramadan which can be hear all over Bursa are also shot from Tophane, where you can also have a cup of tea or coffee in one of the famous cafes or restaurants.

The historical clock tower in Tophane was first built during the reign of Sultan Abdulaziz but it was destroyed until 1900’s. In 1904 the construction of the clock tower was restarted and was put into service by the Governor Reşit Mümtaz Pasha on 31 August 1906 with the ceremony for the honour of Abdulhamit who just got on the throne.

THE TOMBS OF OSMAN GAZI AND ORHAN GAZI

Sultan Orhan who was the son of Osmangazi and the second sultan of the Ottoman Empire lived between 1281 and 1362. During the period he lived, he took back Bursa and its surroundings from the Byzantines, formed the state organizations and printed the provincial Ottoman money. The tomb of Orhangazi was built in Tophane Park in the Hisar district on a section of the Sainte Elie monastery which was used as the metropolitan monastery of the city before the conquest of Bursa.

BOTANICAL PARK OF SOĞANLI

The Botanical Park which was started to be constructed in 1995 within the scope of the green belt in order to provide plenty of oxygen for the city, to combine the plain with the rich samples of the city’s natural life and to add a new resting and healthy sports field to the green Bursa was put into service on 24 Nisan 1998.
